Coming into this a bit late (missed a few days' e-mails) but if you're
running the ZS carb, have you checked the diaphragm and is there oil in
the dashpot?  Either a leak in the diaphragm or no oil in the damper can
make the carb "hunt", with the piston bouncing up and down, making the
mixture fluctuate, etc., etc.
