Agreed, the voltage regulator is easy to check and adjust -- adjust it
slowly though!  A bit too much of a turn of the screw and, watch out, 27
volts!  A bit more than the battery wants, no doubt.

The adjustment procedures are in just about all the manuals, BMC, Bentley,
and Haynes.
