Perhaps I should have said that at reputable auction houses, only the
seller and the auction house know the reserve. And reputable auctions
don't tolerate shills, frauds, or fakes. Of course, in the end, people
who do business at less than reputable auctions get exactly what they
pay for. Keep in mind that a "good deal", even at auction, does not
mean you got something cheap. It is only one in which both the buyer
and the seller are satisfied that it was a fair and satisfactory
transaction.
