It all depends on what is written on the copyright page at the front of the
book. If the publisher/author writes that it can be used for teaching
purposes, then you are correct. But if it says no part of the book can be
used without publisher/author's consent, then you are breaking the copyright
law when you copy even one page of the book. There is no standard rule
about what can and cannot be copied. It's all up to the publisher/author
and what he allows, as written on the copyright page.
