There are really only two options. The first is to replace the part with new
metal and the second is to fill it. If you're going to fill it you have the
option of "bondo" type plastic filler or lead unless the pits are very
small. Then you could use a heavy bodied primer or spot putty (which is
actually a very concentrated primer).
