I assure you I mean no personal affront to anyone on the list, and I respect
your expertise in the field, but I'd like to disagree.

This is very inspirational and comforting but I wonder how many times the
newspaper company Bree works for has covered "golden retriever chases boys at
bus
stop up tree, climbs up and kills them" stories.

It seems every time a pit bull or rottweiler kills a child someone jumps in
with a "oh they're just the most wonderful dogs" story but I've yet to hear
anyone explain what it is they offer that's better than what's offered by the
hundreds of breeds which never seem to kill anyone.

The whole "any dog is mean if you raise it wrong" bit doesn't explain the
disparity in incidents.

Just to make sure I wasn't talking out my arse I did a quick check. I typed
the words "labrador retriever attack child" into google, then "german shepard
attack child" then "pit bull attack child". Here are the results:

Lab - 4,260 hits
Shepard - 7,270 hits
Pit Bull - 55,100 hits.

How does this factor in to your equation?

Mark M.
