     Gary, I have a Mark 1 and it looks like one could feed a hooked tool 
     (like a glass seating tool, hooked probe, or even a bent coat hangar) 
     through the hole where the cable went through, hook the latch and pull 
     it back to release the it. I hope I've understtod the problem

My friend's bonnet release cable broke right where it attaches to the 
bonnet latch assembly.  Does anyone have any novel suggestions on how
to get the bonnet open without making holes in sheetmetal, destroying a nice 
paint job or employing a nuclear device?  No wise guy answers please.  
This is serious business!
