My technique for installing the cork "dogleg" gaskets is to glue them to
the block using contact cement. The idea is to have them stay put while you
install the manifold. I've never had a problem doing it this way. Then use
your silicone or whatever you like between the gaskets and intake manifold.
Torque the intake bolts down carefully and evenly; re-torque them once or
twice later just to make sure they're still tight.
