Hi Paul,
You can fit up to a 6.5 inch speaker in the holes behind the seats
if you so choose. If you buy a 'spacer' for the speaker that stands it up off
of the metal by about .75" a 6-6.5" speaker will fit just fine. This way you
don't have to cut any metal.
