It really isnt too much a problem to mount it on the dash plate.  I 
originally mounted it on the rear wall behind the passenger seat but I found 
that the radio just got too dusty.  So I went with a modification similiar to 
the Katman.

I got myself some sheet metal and used the original plate as a template.  
Then cut out the appropriate holes to relocate allof the items on the dash 
plate.  I removed the heated controls since I removed all of the heater 
parts.  But I did redrill holes for the cigar lighter, Throttle and Choke 
cables.  The new plate was painted black along with the shift plate so that 
the colors match.

Here is a picture of the completed job.  It came out very clean and look 
quite factory to me.  It also only took me about 15 hours to do.
