Randy, according to the SP(L)311 1600 (3 and 5 bearing crank) Service
Manual, the units prior to Engine Number 40000 used UNF, UNC threads
and a 3 bearing crank.
Post Engine Number 40001 used METRIC threads and was a 5 bearing
crank.
I'm guessing your '69 unit should also be METRIC since the 1600 came
out before the 2000.
Spare a thought for those who were brought up on the Metric system and
had to buy AF tools and UNF/UNC taps and dies to work on an early ('65
SP310) Roadster.

We just started work on my son's 69 2000. This may sound like a dumb
question.
What kind of nuts and bolts did they use? I was trying to clean up the
threads
that hold the master cylinder to the firewall and can't seem to find
the right
die.

Thanks,
