re: gas mileage

Hi John!
I went through the same thing with the last 1500 I owned.  Even with a rblt.
carb, I never managed to get more than about 20mpg, and the car always
running too rich.  I eventually went to a set of 1 1/4 SUs.  A LOT better
performance and way better mileage.  I was averaging high 20 to low 30 in
town!  A  big difference.  And I was able to get the car passed our local
emissions test easier as well.
