Patrick, many thanks.

Are your arms calibrated to a tracable national standard?
I'm worried as my arms are not in fact calibrated. Also they are partially
metric arms since I am in fact British but living in the US. This raises
questions like:- I may be I'm not in fact certified to remove the engine
without this, where do I get my arms calibrated, what does the calibrartion
cost, is the calibration valid in another state, etc. etc.

Weight is about 60 lbs if my arms have been calibrated to spec recently.

Douglas, I also have tried teh push rod when teh slave was out and it moves
all so easily and then stopped. Just as if it was not connected. So I
suspect the release mechanism somewhere. I am prepared to pull the
transmission as I don't see any alternative. Any idea what the transmission
with O/D and bellhousing etc. weighs?

Alan, it's not clear whether you think you're getting the full range of
motion from the slave pushrod. It may be that the problem is inside the
bell housing instead.
