Well, if the Spit and the Jeep get driven more or less equally, I guess you
have two semi-daily-drivers - that's probably good enough to count!! Your
mileage is certainly higher than many people who do use one car for their
exclusive transport (probably beats my wife's Citroen). However, if you only
ever use it when the weather is nice, that may only count as a 'fair-weather'
car. Then again, you may live in a part of the world where the weather is
nice so much of the time that that isn't much of an issue - not like rainy old
England :-(
By the way, how come a country like this became such a significant producer of
open-top cars? We must be a real nation of masochists!!
My drive to work isn't that interesting - 32 miles, almost all on the A1 (3-4
lane motorway), steady 80 mph. Still, probably more fun than a 15 mph urban
crawl. And on a nice sunny day, even that motorway slog is a true joy in
Daffy. If I'm in a really good mood I'll avoid the motorway and take the
back-roads home - adds a few miles, but a lot of smiles!
Winter driving can be a bit dodgy when it is icy, particularly on the un-salted
road from my village to the nearest main road. I'll confess that Daffy may
not be ideal for this, but she's all I've got, and at least the small cabin
heats up reasonably quickly!
I hope you didn't take offense at my comment - no disrespect intended, just
voicing my interpretation of the phrase. I'm guessing from the tone of your
reply that we are still friends!
