I have never heard anybody who has welded say ANYTHING is better
than welding. Frankly, it just really isn't possible IMHO, welding
is the natural technique for joining metal.

As a lovely side bonus, welding is also fast and easy once you
learn the ropes. It's rare and wonderful that the best solution
is also the easiest and fastest solution.

...actually, aside from initial expenses from buying the
welder and safety gear, welding is also the cheapest way
to join metal. Based on how seldom I have to replace my gas
bottle (two bottles does a complete car) and my wire
spool. (one 10kg spool does a yard full of cars) it probably
works out to pennies per foot. Cheaper than any kind of
glue and certainly cheaper than any kind of rivets.

From my experience, and tainted with my skepticism, anybody who
has found a better way of attaching things than welding usually
can't afford a welder or is just generally scared off by
the whole process and just WANTS to beleive so badly that they
can avoid welding that they find themselves doing so.
