In the UK you do not have to have any door or wing mirrors fitted if the
vehicle was built before a certain date. I'm not sure of the date, but it is
after 1969.
I believe they were all supplied to dealers without mirrors and seat belts.
Most cars that were supplied with mirrors and seat belts had them fitted at the
dealers before sale, along with radios and boot racks etc...
This was the case in the early years, I think MKIV and after were supplied with
mirrors, when the UK law changed.
