Actually, the factory did the Buick/Rover V8 as well, AFTER Costello showed
them how. Of course the wusses didn't thing the convertible could handle all
that extra torque, so they only did it in the GT, they did it in the
mid-seventies when V8s were harder to sell than an L4, and they asked
American dealers if they thought they could sell a car that out-performed
their top-of-the-line Jags with a much smaller profit margin. Formula for
success? NOT!!!!
