I've had Cibie Z-beams on previous cars, they're great.  For extra power on
the
high beams, try a 55/100w bulb.  Also, you may try fitting a relay to operate
the lights.  This way only a control voltage goes through the switch, while a
stout wire carries current directly from the battery to the lights.
