You never mentioned what your engine timming was but if it is overly
retardarded (set for too much past top dead center)  your engine will
exhibit all the symptoms you describe - also as long as the radiator isn't
boiling over your not "overheating" which could indicate maybe a faulty
gauge, but I kinda doubt it fram the other symptoms you describe. -
