Andy, perhaps this is a new judging class; the "academics"....  
Requirements: Participate in one (1) driving event
        Present a paper on an appropriate subject.  

And in fond memory it could be called the Ray Gibbons Award....

Is this a request for papers? ("New Method for Determining the British
Thermal Unit") Will there be invited talks? ("Pushers and Pullers: An
Examination of the Forces and Dynamics") Posters in the halls showing
the
work of eager graduate students? This would be more exciting than going
to
the Particle Accelerator Conference!

Perhaps I've worked at the university too long...
