The reaction arm is number 53, External Engine diagram, in the Moss TR4
catalog.  I suspect the purpose (or puppies) of the arm is to prevent the
engine from rocking clockwise when accelerated hard.  If the bumper
is gone, or the mounting bolts are loose, this could cause a banging
noise.  Hey, that's a thought, I'm off to check if this arm is mounted to
the TR4A also...
