My '57 TR3 has a 'push type' washer mounted on the dash in the location you
mention.  (However, currently sitting on a shelf in the garage.)  Don't know how
well they work.  Did notice the area around the mounting hole was bent in badly.
Indicating (A) the washer didn't work well or at all, or (B) the dpo was too
tense.
