Bob,
You're correct.........my impact driver works like a spring loaded cam. Set
the tool in the slot, rotate CCW until resistance is met, keep CCW pressure as
you whack it with the hammer. The force of the hammer blow keeps the tool in
the slot,(the real trick in removing frozen screws) while the cam imparts a
slight CCW rotation to the screw.
