It's most likely true. I think Triumph split their car and motorcycle 
manufacturing into two separate companies some time in the late 1930s. 
British Triumph motorcycles are still being produced (and imported into the 
USA) today. There was once a Triumph "TR6" motorcycle. I'm sure a British 
bike enthusiast will correct my dates and details, but the gist is correct.
