Which is considered best?? TIG or MIG?? Whats the differance? I do think I
want a gas wire welder rather than gasless. would love to only spend around
$200. Is this possible??

Gary,
A TIG ( tungsten inert gas) torch can be used with a wider variety of metals
( e.g.. SS, Al, etc.) than the MIG, but TIG technique is more difficult to
master and a serviceable machine will cost much more than $200. A wire fed
MIG is fine for autobody, MUCH easier to get good results than a
traditional stick welder. Bite the Bullet and buy the gas option, as the
flux-cored wire used in gasless systems splatters a lot, and there is the
flux removal job before painting that is a PITA. There are a number of good
manufacturers, your results will be improved with a better machine but a
successful weld is mostly a function of practice. Take a look on EBay. (
Here we go again....)
