I looked at a '71 TR6 with similar options (hard top but no OD) in what
sounds to be in the same condition as the one you are looking at. He was
asking $1800, I offered him $800 and he chuckled and said he would part it
before letting it go for that and hung up the phone. Car was probably worth
$900-$1200. He left me a sort-of nasty "I told you so" e-mail a few days
later that he sold the car for the full $1500 he was asking. If the hardtop
is a factory steel one, and it has a working A-type OD, those two items
alone could be worth $1000. If the rust is limited to the floor, and the
fenders, frame, rockers, etc are in decent shape, I'd offer him $800, and go
from there.
