When I moved to California ( The granola bar State...), The State Patrol
inspector had never seen a "commission' number or a car that only had a pop
riveted number plate on the scuttle...He searched and searched and searched
for a number stamped on the frame or engine that matched...

Only after producing the Washington State Title, BMIHT build certificate,
Factory Parts Book, Owners Handbook and Factory Workshop Manual, oh, and a
call to Sacramento to confirm the location of the ID Plate did I pass
inspection and receive my coveted California Vehicle Title.

Cheers,

Brad

<The junk yard guy looked at the title and said "I've never seen a serial
number
<like this. What's its VIN?" I explained to him that this was a 40 year old
car,
<no VIN, the number plate and title matched, and it was junk.
