>One other idea that hasn't been mentioned that I just experienced on my 74
TR6, was WATER in the bottom of the tank , started acting up back in August
only slightly but by the end of October I had to resolve the annoyance,
Jerking the car around would cause the eventual large puddle in the bottom
of the tank to jump over the slight stand pipe in the bottom of the tank,
felt just like a faulty pump, bad venting, clogged filter Etc.

I don't know where you live but if you live in the midwest and burn gas
that is 10% ethanol there is zero likelhood that you have water in the tank
unless you just washed the car with the cap open.

I live in the SE, and stay away from Gasahol, I Don't expect I picked it up
from condensation in my tank, I feel it was from the pump because gosh, I
just don't think I wash the car with the cap open, and don't leave it open,
Plus this has never happened before.

I don't know it MTBE will pick up any water in the fuel system.

The pick up tube is about a 1/4" above the bottom of the tank.

Cheers Brooks
