Hi Bob. That's a great idea.

I've had my cover off recently. I dreaded removing the brake lever and
reinstalling it. I found you can muscle the cover in from the side without
cutting it or removing the lever. It bends but is pretty resilient. I didn't
do this last time, but it'll be easier if I also remove the shift lever next
time.
