Terry:

I had the same problem with mine and even used LARGE chisel and hammer under
the lip to try and force up, with no luck. I ended up cutting it off once I
located a replacement from a salvage yard.

Subject: Transmission Shift Lever Cap Removal

I have been battling the shift lever cap, trying to remove it from my '59
TR3A
transmission. I have soaked in Powerblaster, heated with a propane torch,
soaked again, tried to twist with big pliars, tapped with a rubber mallet
(both sideways and upwards), then repeated everything in various order. I
hesitate to hacksaw it off as it is listed as NA in Moss.

The shift lever needs rechroming, so the cap has to come off (and be
reinstalled on my rebuilt OD). Any pro-wrestling fans out there with a hold
that might break this free?
