Because you can buy black in the hardware store in aerosol cans. Unless you
have just recently painted the car the oods of having the right color paint
that actually matches is slim to none. Getting color matched aerosol paint is
doable but not worth the effort in a driver.
On the other hand, if you are painting the car, not painting the engine bay
at the same time is an expediency that you may come to regret.
