List,
when I repainted my truck this last spring while I was in the auto
collision/repair course at our Votech school, once the prier was
applied, I wet sanded it after spraying a guide coat of black paint
over it. This light spray let you know when you had sanded the
surface flat and also showed up minor/major low spots.
Once you were satisfied with this, you then put down the base coat
and once it was dry, sprayed the clear coat over this in 2 or 3
coats. when this was dry, I then wet sanded the truck again and then
used a buffer and a mild abrasive, a 3M product and I don;t recall
the number but I can get it if anyone needs it, to polish the finish
to a very smooth and shiny finish. Does not look bad, but being the
"parent" of this work, I know where the warts are and boy did I learn
a lot from this.
So, Fred, if I were to paint the TR's, I think right now if I were
doing the work, I'd paint it all apart as an ease to buffing the
final product.
