For general sealing I've been using DAP 240 ( might be 220 ) from the home center. It is a rubbery elastomer sealer. It goes on like latex but does not get hard. It is,'t as slipery as silicone. The stuff says not for auto use. I suspect it can't take a direct salt spray but it has workled just fime for me.
