The sealer will sort of come off, just use a thin bead. However it is more of
a seal and forget type operation. The gray rope caulk found in a home
center might work, GM uses a softer non drying formula on heater boxes.
The foam strip idea is probably the best option as the cover can be removed
and replaced with little fuss.
