I removed the pistons yesterday, 3 of 4 pistons had the rings all broke up and 1 (front piston) had quite a bit of wear between the ring grooves, so much so that the piston was starting to break up.

I have bought County Brand pistons and liners (86mm) with Deves rings. The info supplied with the ("Set") rings said that the "normal" gap should be .008" - .014". The Haynes manual says .003" - .010

NO, place the gasket sealer on the gasket, then place the preped gasket into the ening carfully to insure proper position. THEN install the liners carfully & EVENLY so not to damage the Fig.* gasket.
