The early TR4 dash is not "crackle" and is one piece unless the glove box door counts as two. I presume the dash is out of the car. I painted my own as another suggested -- had one spray can mixed up

It may not be the cable. Even if it is sticking, you should be able to push it fully in. The plunger (?) on the hood may be adjusted too short and not captured fully by the latch. It is screwed into

I sent an e-mail to AR expressing my disappointment that the design wasn't true to the original. They replied! It seems the change is to allow them to accommodate the most bolt patterns and offsets.

It is supposed to have a 4th ring. That's what is in my TR4--of course I bought those pistons and liners way back when you could just go to the local foreign car parts store (BAP Geon, Beck Arnley?)
