so I finally got an engine I'd bought as low mileage rebuilt fired up in the car I'd dropped it into... sounds pretty decent, but there's oil welling out around the base of the spark plug for the #3

welling ever You could start by seeing if the oil is coming from the cylinder. If you pull the plug is the electrode area wet with oil? I would expect a heavy skip if this were the case though. ____

nope. not dripping down from the valve cover gasket. I wiped everything dry after I first saw oil coming down from that area and then fired it up again and looked with a light and my glasses on- it's

Back by nr 3, is that an area of the head that contains any oil passages? Only thing I can think of is not good....a weird crack in the head that allows oil to pass from a gallery to the vicinity of

Hopefully andy is right...Mine is a cracked valve cover leak in the front, pools by #3 plug. Took a while to track out, clean synthetic oil in the car, couldn't see the run. Try the poor man's Magnaf

Would a crack in the top of the valve cover be able to send oil up and down into the spark plug area? Also would the powder get into the rockers etc and cause a problem? Otherwise what you are saying

Powder/spray gets sprayed on the OUTSIDE of the engine with nothing disassembled and all caps on. The oil will go down by gravity and back from the engine fan. It also runs along seams and gasket joi
