If you had steel retaining clips for the dust boots, then you may have TR6 calipers on the car. Check for letters cast onto the outer half of the caliper near the brake line. If it says "Type 16BP"

Methinks you have TR6 caliper pistons. They are exactly the same size as TR4 pistons but use a different seal on the dust cover (metal ring, insead of tight groove) Find the number stamped on the cal

On the advice of serveral listers, I looked at the Moss catalogs for the TR6 disc brakes, and sure enough, that's what they are. The pistons were in fairly good shape, it was the buildup of rust and
