For the first ten minutes or so that the engine runs it will stutter or even die when revved. If the throttle is applied slowly then it accelerates smoothly. This problem clears up after the engine i

You should make sure your carb dashpots both have oil in them. I have had similar symptoms in the past and this was the cause. The oil should be of the correct weight, also. Engine oil should be OK,

How much choke do you have applied, and what is the outside temperature ? Someone already mentioned dashpot oil ... heavier oil will provide richer mixture when you first open the throttle. IMO 3-in

This sounds familiar Jerry. My TR3B would not run right at all, choke or not, until she warmed up. Same symptoms as you describe. I ran her like this for a few years. Then one day at the TRA National

Good point. I had a similar but opposite experience before I finally dialed in the MGB SU's a DPO had put on my GT6. In cold weather it would run moderately okay for half an hour or so. But after tha

I'm running what Joe Curto recommended. "Yellow" springs, and the needles are AAA, I believe. I got the impression from Joe that there were only a few spring options and that the yellow version was t

I think I misremembered something. The needle I tried which didn't work was ABL, not AAB. Definitely didn't work with the yellow springs. I'm pretty sure I've got AAA now, and there isn't much room f

It's been recommended by those in the know to use the '3-in-1' BLUE can - NOT the RED can (10wt). The TR4/4A factory lube chart for carburettor dashpots (Strombergs and SUs) recommends using straight
