Hi guys, I'm getting ready to bolt the exhaust manifolds onto my 3.5 for my factory MGB-GT V-8. The factory recommends 13 foot-pounds for the bolt torque, but that is for the original specification w

While there are no illustrations of an exhaust manifold gasket in the MGB GT V8 Workshop Manual Supplement, I can't believe that these engines were built (by the factory) without them. It is almost

Hi Jim and Paul, Jim, you and I have curiously different materiel to consult. I have opened up a number of SD1s and Vitesses. I have never found a set of gaskets on either manifolds or heddars. The s

Jim, The 61-63 Olds F-85 ex. manifolds came originally without gaskets. Studs, nuts, and flat washers were used. The factory manual shows a torque spec of 18-24 ft. lb. KDon't know if this helps. Re

As I said, My shop manual is silent regards gaskets. This manual is part # AKM 3616B copyright 1981. The parts manual is part # RTC9852CA dated January 1980. Since it shows the gasket as #GEG692, man

I was amazed too when I found that the factory GT V-8 used no exhaust manifold gaskets as stock. When I visited Beer of Houghton (one of the foremost MG V-8 shops in the UK) Syd and Malcolm confirme

I may have an explanation - I think the GEG 692 manifold gaskets were only used on EXPORT SD1s. I seem to recall the Beers mentioning that fact when I talked to them in the UK. Can't tell from your

I have never seen either an Olds or Buick 215 that came from the factory with exhaust manifold gaskets. I personally always use gaskets when reassembling them however. Regards, Jim Bown --Original Me

While Jim may be correct with the Rover variation of the aluminum V8, the 1961 Buick service manual says, "No gaskets are used in the entire exhaust system." The 1961 Oldsmobile service manual indic
