Dwayne,

I plugged the distributor only to keep road dust/dirt and grime out of it.

A follow up question. To disable the vacuum retard, should you blg the retard
on the distributor or leave it open. Does it matter and does it affect what
and how you set the timing?

Thanks,

Corey,

Don't know what year car you have but on the TR250, the retard unit screws
onto a shaft coming from the advance unit (after it passes through the dist
housing). It does not screw into the dist housing. The Moss diagram is not
clear on this. The TRF catalog, at least the 250 catalog, is much clearer.

As far as I can tell, the dist. housings are the same for many model years.
The main difference is in the way the vacuum advance/retard was configured.
On the early cars, we had both an advance and retard unit. At some point,
the retard unit disappeared and was replaced by a knurled nut.

Dick is right, I have the retard blocked off and the car still runs great.
