I was told by someone that a car from costal areas are more to worry about
then cars from Canada. If the car was never taken out in the winter, chances
are the frame and body are in pretty good shape. But a car that comes from
Florida and is driven all year round or even stored, has a greater chance of
rust then up in Canada. The salt air is inevitable and will go through
garage doors. You would need an air tight room to keep the car from the salt
air.

We have beautiful cars in Canada during the summer and most vintage car
owners take great pride in their cars.
I bought a car sight unseen and go burnt badly. The body and frame was
scrapped and all I was able to salvage were small parts and the drivetrain.

Knowing what I know now...I wouldn't buy a car without getting thousands of
pictures(digital) and making sure that the VIN is in one of those picture.
That way the person is responsible if he/she delivers a poor condition car
which is not what was described.

My 2 bits worth,

Patrick

I just want to let you guys on the list know that not all Canadian cars are
like the one described by Kai. While looking for my car, I ran across some
really poor examples. While trying to open the hood of one car the hood
release cable broke in my hands. Needless to say I did not buy this car. The
car I finally purchased was from the original owner with only 16000 miles on
it. The body, frame and mechanics were totally solid. I have owned this car
for 20 years and have not had any rust on it. Recently I purchased another
solid 74 TR6 with only 33000 miles on it. This car is in far better shape
than almost every other TR6 I've seen for sale in the last half dozen years
and for less money.
Don't let one or two shysters discourage you, there are still really good
cars out there to be found.

Kai - sorry you had a bad experience. Try to make the best of it.
Hopefully, the weather was nice. :-)

'nuff said.
