I purchased a small (100 amp rated for up to 1/4" steel) about 10 years ago
from a local tool retailer. Brand name of "Silver Beauty". It has served me
well, lasting through the fabrication of my car trailer, a bunch of *heavy
duty* fabrication of tractor attachments, as well as general light duty fab
jobs (22 gauge to 1/8' type welding). But, it's just about worn out and parts
availability is a no go, aside from the "consumables" such as tips, gas and
wire; it's manufacturer has gone out of business.
If your looking for a lifetime welder, go with Lincoln as 1st choice,
Century as 2nd.
Buy from a local dealer, stay away from mail order (Harbor Freight, etc.).
Think service and parts after the sale.
Although old Silver has done a good job for me, my next Mig will be a Lincoln.
