Winning ESP time from Bremerton Tour: 101.076

Winning CP time from Bremerton Tour: 99.138

Jeffy's time from Bremerton Tour: 109.047

*********************************

I didn't give a damn about Bremerton Tour, even before it started. I'm
preparing for
nationals.

Bremerton is an asphault, narrow runway. Temperatures were in the 50's, it was
misting on
Sunday during our heat (vs completely dry during CP's heat), I ran on old
Hoosiers on
Saturday, and new narrower Kumhos on heavy wheels ... a setup I have virtually
no
experience on, and then there was the conefest course design (the entrants had
by far the
most cones of any NT this year) that was unrepresentative of Nationals. I had
one
objective on Saturday ...to get my first run scratch time close to my fastest
run scratch
time and blew that half way through the run with a spinout... having no other
major useful
objectives for the event and knowing it wouldn't be good no matter what, I gave
up
actually competing after that run. I spent the remaining runs working on
specific
techniques that would have no likely positive effect on the my standings at
that event...
only ones that would be useful for nationals.

See, unlike most CP drivers, I actually care about doing well at Nationals. I
don't care
that much about how I place during the year unless it contributes to doing well
at
Nationals.

BTW, during that event, Glen Hernandez, in a moderately setup ESP car that he
had driven
at exactly one event (the prior weekend) was just a few tenths off the winning
CP time and
several seconds faster than 2nd place CP time driven by two perennial CP
nationals trophy
winners even though CP had much better weather conditions than ESP. But then,
Wayne and
Byron probably had a lot of other reasons, including it being their very first
event of
the year.

The 3rd place CP trophy winner at Bremerton also beat me by many 7+ seconds...
not that I
cared. But FWIW, I beat him the following weekend on his home court at
Portland, and did
that on my last run that I mailed in.

If you want to look at events that count (on concrete, national level course
designs and
competitors);

The prior weekend at Wendover Pro I had a decent, not great showing.

ESP Eguina 71.092 '96 Camaro SS-R
ESP Berry 71.233 '96 Camaro SS-R - Tom deliberately sandbagged at least a
second
CP Kozarov 71.275 '91 Mustang - His Topeka Pro performance was the best Pro
performance
of any CP entrant this year
CP Hershorin72.019 '88 Mustang
ESP Sapp 72.045 '01 Fordahl Mustang - never drove my car before his 1st
ProSolo run
ESP H Botkin 72.434 '02 Camaro Z28
ESP C Botkin 72.673 '02 Camaro Z28
ESP Winchell 74.124 '01 Fordahl Mustang

The previous NT at Atwater
CP Maier 81.958 '93 Mustang
ESP Berry 83.190 '96 Camaro SS-R
CP Stagnaro 83.514 '65 Shelby GT350
ESP Hernandez84.219 '01 Fordahl Mustang
ESP Eguina 84.692 '01 Fordahl Mustang
CP Mitchell 85.124 '93 Mustang
ESP Fordahl 86.421 '01 Fordahl Mustang - never autocrossed the car before,
doing things
to figure out car setup and help us rather than trying to win
SM Winchell 86.534 '01 Fordahl Mustang - entered the car in SM to let Greg
work w/ Glenn
CP Ogg 89.354 '65 Shelby GT350

Unlike Bremerton NT which had two top CP drivers and 5 cannon fodder entrants,
virtually
all the entrants in CP in these two events are trophy contenders at Nationals
...and all
the ESP entrants listed above are trophy contenders (except for my co-drivers
who will
definitely win trophys or championships in other classes).

At Atwater, my paxed time was 95.7% of the top PAX driver. At your only NT
event at Peru,
you were 94.2% of the top PAX driver. But then maybe you have reasons for
driving worse
than I have.

Got anything better than this e-mail or was that your best shot?
