First, I dis-agree with the sentiment that the event officials are not
needed and that the competitors can simply decide when to leave. The
competitors are not the only ones who need to see the cars. Impound people
need to do their thing too.

Second, I was working impound that heat. No more than a couple minutes
after the start of impound, I started to walk over there to check on them
and they were gone already. Couldn't find an impound person? Ca-ca! (BTW,
this is the first time I've heard that an impound worker could not be found.
 Who said this?)

I looks to me that the power trip being exerted here is by the competitors.
Everyone agrees to go by the rules. (Yeah, you too!) :) When you decide
those rules are no longer convenient for you, then you are the one on the
power trip. I respect all the event officials because they are given
responsibilities to carry out for our benefit. Many people take thier
responsibilities seriously. I do not see that as being overly officious,
but trying to do a good job for us. Guess my glass is half full.

Finally, there is no "other" story...you trying to be a trouble maker Salem?
;);) I can honestly say that no one wanted to take this action. Had you
been there, I think you might have detected this. SS did very well
performance wise, and no one wanted to see them get bounced. In fact
several much milder solution were being discussed, but in the end it had to
be DSQ because that was the penalty applied to some other individuals that
left as well. No one took any pleasure in this, so there really is no
witch-hunt-circus thing going on.

Sorry nothing here to see folks....move along now....

about fun so they can obsess on who's better at ready a rule book. But to
DSQ and entire class that willingly gave up their right to protest AND
couldn't find an impound worker is nuts. The little classes, (FP etc.), get
away with it all the time. I'd hate to call it car bigotry but maybe that's
what it was.
