First event was as college freshman in the fall of '64. The school had a car
club that did a combined time event, an autocross + 1/8 mile drags.
I ran my 62 Impala. 300 HP 3 on the tree. 4 dr hdtp.
Thru the college years the car got upgraded to "wagon" wheels. For you
kiddies, those were the "wide" station wagon wheels (6"), 66 "B" car F41
rear sway bar, 4 speed, L79 (350 HP) cam, and numerous rear gear changes,
including one during finals week when I exploded one showing a local that 4
doors did not = slow :-)
Favorite autocross with that car was more of a Solo I.
PA turnpike in the wee hours of the morning. Back when the 'pike was fun!
Second autocross was next year driving my roomate's Falcon Sprint, 260 V8, 4
speed. Wonder where that car is today?!
