I know it is a low probability, but what grade oil are
you using. I ask this because a few years back I had a 
similar problem with my (ex) 69 T-Bird. It turned out
I had too light of an oil for the engine (that was 
the last time I have let anyone else change my oil).

The other easy thing to check that happened to a friend of mine
was his oil return holes were partially clogged, same type of 
symptoms.
