Lotus Europa

I'm wondering if anyone could answer some questions. I've always liked the
Europas, and only seen one up close.

How much do they weigh? (approximately/average)

How much torque can the transaxle take? (the one I saw looked pretty beefy)

What engines do people drop into them? It seems all are 4-bangers, usually
Renault.

Has anyone ever dropped a 3.5 Rover aluminum V-8 into one? They're only 300 lbs.
(it looked like it had enough room)

How about a rotary?
