I remember someone going on about upgrading spridget hubs from ball
bearings to tapered roller bearings; of course at that time, I wasn't
interested so I didn't pay careful attention.
Now that I have a Morris Minor, I need to know. I'm upgrading from the
stock front drums ("they make up for being small by being narrow") with
Spridget disks. Everything came apart this past weekend, and I'm
starting to clean and assemble. Since one of my gripes about the Minor
is the incredible shimmy under braking, due to worn bearings, I'd like
to upgrade from unadjustable balls to adjustable tapered roller.
Mini Mania says they used to sell a kit but can't get it any more; I
can go to a bearing house and get something close, but I'll have to
machine the hub. Bummer.
Anyone know where I can get the right parts, instead?
