I don't know what the splines are like, but a T-5 swap into a 4.0 Ford Ranger
uses a GM T-5 instead of the Ford one because of the shifter position
relative to the interior of the truck. Is it possible that a T-5 out of a
5.0 Mustang would have the correct splines? If so, the first gear ratio is
3.35:1 which may or may not be nice for your application. And, it may have a
different shifter position that also may or may not work better.
